Avec mes trois haïkus d’hier je me lance, comme j’ai envie de le faire depuis longtemps sans oser, à en faire une version anglaise. C’est la récente discussion que je viens d’avoir avec un Hindi qui s’exprime en anglais qui me pousse. Espérant ne pas trop heurter mes ami(e)s anglophones !
With my three haikus from yesterday I am embarking on, as I have wanted to do for a long time without daring, to make an English version. It’s the recent discussion I just had with a Hindi who speaks English that drives me. Hoping not to offend my English-speaking friends too much!

I set your post to play in my reader, then started listening. And then….all these strange words for the poor French voice inside my computer 😆. I (usually) prefer to comment in French, though, just because most of your other readers must be French.

I like Francophone posts, groups especially now, because I do not visit so often. And reading/listening is easier than conversation, it is easier to keep up. And you are welcome that I follow your blog – I do so because the posts are good!

In my last job before I retire three years ago, I had to communicate in english because I was in charge of a support team for a french international pharma company. But I have a poor english, technical pour not literary. It is a new challenge for me.
When I consider writers like Nabokov or others, which have written books in an other language than their native, I really measure the harshness of the job.

That is incredible, isn’t it? I read many people on here, and their English is better than mine! And, one becomes so lazy, as an English-speaker. I seem to have met a group of Italian bloggers, totally by accident because I have not really any Italian. We all have to get past the language but they are fun to read. Their words sound so poetic whenb I translate into English 🙂.

Many languages are beautiful to read, graphically even if we don’t understand the meaning. I don’t really read Italian, but many french words have the same latin roots. So it’s possible to feel the meaning more than understand it.
Unexpected : a japonese friend gave me a japonese release of the first of the three haïkus. I add it in my last post.

P.S. : hier, ils annonçait de la pluie, mais j’avais un créneau pour aller faire un tour de moto vers Les Andelys. Au tiers du chemin, il y avait tellement de vent que j’ai fait demi-tour.

Absolutely fantastic and I love the fact that I don’t have to copy-paste into google translate myself haha. I can read French but it takes me a lot of energy and more time, which I sometimes cannot afford. Thank you for this wonderful reader-synergy!!

Oh merci Lia. Thks so much. Google trad is very useful, but we need to keep an eye on it. Often, I do the translation and I only verify with google trad.
